List Serve

The RCA List Serve is a wonderful resource for quickly reaching out to over 500 fellow RCA members with your R&D questions and responses. Please carefully read the instructions and guidelines below in order to join, make the most of your List Serve use, and to maintain it as one of the most professional, pertinent resources out there for practitioners of Culinology®.

To Join the List Serve

Email Kristi Kanu at RCA Headquarters, kkanu@kellencompany.com, with the email address that you would like to use as a subscriber to the List Serve. You will receive an invite message which you will need to "approve" in order to join.   Please note that a subscription to the List Serve is a members-only benefit.

Sending and Receiving Messages

The List Serve is essentially an email list with subscribers. Messages will appear in your inbox and you can respond through your email, as you would with any email message.

To send a message, first ensure that it follows all RCA List Serve guidelines, then email it to rcagroup@culinologylists.com. As long as you are an active subscriber to the List Serve, your message will be sent to all other subscribers.

To respond to a message, you may email either the entire group or just the individual, depending on the nature of the message.

RCA List Serve Guidelines

Before posting a message on the List Serve, be sure:

  • this message needs to go to all RCA List Serve subscribers.
  • this message is not an advertisement.
  • this message is not part of a job search or posting (see RCA Employment Network.)
  • this message is not derisive or offensive.

"Netiquette" Tips To Keep in Mind

  • Create messages with a positive tone on professional issues.
  • Carefully review all messages before posting, to ensure clarity.
  • Include signature and contact information at the end of all correspondences.
  • When replying to a message, quote portions of the original message in order to make your reply understandable.
  • Do not post private messages and personal information without permission from the individuals named in the message.
  • Practice tolerance with members' differing opinions.
  • Minimize the use of UPPERCASE characters, which are more difficult to read and are considered the e-mail equivalent of shouting.
  • Avoid clutter (such as colors, stars, arrows, etc.) They bog down servers and may crash some computers.
  • Be patient with newcomers.

Address Change or Removal

If your email address changes or you would like to be removed from the list at any time, please contact Kristi Kanu at RCA Headquarters to update your information.

Troubleshooting

The most common factors that may interfere with your receiving List Serve messages have to do with your email security settings or your internet service provider.

In some cases, your email server may recognize the List Serve messages as spam or junk mail, and may not be accepted. Please ensure that your email settings will allow you to receive messages from rcagroup@culinologylists.com, by setting this email address as a “safe sender.”

Keep in mind that List Serve activity is variable day to day, and therefore you may receive several email messages from the list serve in one day, and then no messages for several days.

If you are still experiencing problems, please contact Kristi Kanu at RCA Headquarters to verify your email address and subscriber status. You may need to contact your company’s technical support department in order to further troubleshoot the issue.
